About the Company

Q. How long has Penny Farthing been in existence?

Penny Farthing Holidays was founded in 1987.We are a small family run company based in West London, near Heathrow Airport. Being a small company you are always dealing with the principals.
. It has grown mainly by personal recommendation (Look at our letters of appreciation). The British Tourist Board also recommends us.

Q. Does Penny Farthing cater for the independent Traveller?

Yes we specialise in supplying an exclusive and personal and friendly service, aimed at the independent traveller, and not the mass coach tours. We travel at your pace, stopping where and when you want to.

Q. Does Penny Farthing cater for the Corporate Traveller?

Yes we supply a high level of friendly service, very exclusive and personal. We can have you and your V.I.P clients met by our drivers at the airport and taken to your meetings. Have your wives/partners taken shopping or sightseeing. At the end of your stay take you back to the airport.

About the Airport/Cruise transfers

Q. Does Penny Farthing provide airport and cruise transfers?

Yes we have a meet and greet service at all major airports. We also meet clients coming from or going to cruise ships.

Q. What sort of vehicles do you have?

We have a range of luxury cars, mainly Mercedes ‘S’ & ‘E’ class. We also have mini vans like Mercedes ‘V’ class, Chrysler Voyagers, and Toyota Previas. Most of our fleet has Air Conditioning as standard and all drivers are equipped with Mobile Phones.

About the tours

Q. What type of tours do you do?

We do a range of day tours in a radius of 100 – 150 miles around London. On the full day tours we sometimes cover 300 miles. We do believe in showing you as much as possible in any one area. We do not believe in showing you 2 or 3 sites, then booking another tour and bringing you back to the same area and showing you another 2-3 sites. These tours are for small groups of people, and very much an independent way to travel. Transport is usually in limousines, sedan cars and small mini buses.

We also believe in showing you the “Real” countryside. Taking the little country roads, and little byways. We will show you the “Real” English countryside. Maybe stop at a quaint English pub for a bite to eat.

Q. How long are the tours?

The tour price is based on the car or minivan. This is very much an al a Carte service. Full day tours are up to 10 hours long, so it is an early start and home late. Please avoid booking theatre tickets that night.

Q. What do we get for the price?

You get the services of a driver/guide and the facility to stop for as long as you want at any of the sightseeing sites. The price you pay is for the driver and car.

Q. Do you pick us up from our Hotel?

Yes this a door-to-door service.

Q. How much walking on the tours?

We will endeavour to get you as close to the sites as possible. Some cities have restricted the motorcar from city centres, but we will get as close as we can.
Please let us know if you have any mobility problems and we will try and accommodate.

About bookings

Q. How do I make a booking?

Please go the section and fill in the form. If you are being met at the airport or off a cruise ship please let us know how many passengers, date of arrival, flight number. If you have lots of luggage, please let us know, as we will send a large car.

Q. When shall I make a booking?

In the summer months (May to October) we get booked up quickly, so it is advisable to book as soon as you are ready. Try not to leave it to the last moment, as you may find that we are fully booked.
But even if you have not booked give us a ring we may just have had a cancellation.

Q. Can I book by e-mail?

Yes that is the quickest and surest way. As you a led through a booking procedure and hopefully answer all the most relevant questions. But if you prefer to fax us that’s fine.

We endeavour to answer all emails, and faxes in 24 hours, but do keep in mind the time difference, weekends and national holidays.
For emails /faxes sent less than 48hrs of your departure it is advisable to telephone us to ensure we can accommodate you.

Q. Do I need guarantee my booking?

Yes we require you to guarantee your booking with a major credit card; we accept American Express, Visa, and Master Card.
